Prenatal Appointments

Medical care is crucial throughout a woman’s pregnancy to ensure the health of both her and her baby.

If you are pregnant, or believe you may be pregnant, Network Medical provides free medical services to promote your health and well being.

• What Happens at My First Prenatal Appointment?
  At your first prenatal appointment you will:
  - Meet your doctor to review your health history. Your doctor will ask several questions about your health, as well as your partner’s health.
  - If possible, be ready to provide the date of your last menstrual period (LMP). This date will be used to determine your due date.If you are unsure of your LMP, the doctor can use an alternate method, such as an ultrasound, to determine how far along you are.
  - Have your weight, blood pressure and urine checked. At this first visit you may have an internal exam done to check for any complications. The doctor will also check the size of your womb to verify your due date.
• How Often Will I See My Doctor Throughout My Pregnancy?
  It is normal to visit your health care provider once a month during the first 7 months, twice during the 8th month and then weekly until your baby is born.
  
• What Will Happen at my Following Appointments?
  - Routine tests will be performed during your pregnancy to rule out complications and to make sure you and your baby are healthy.
  - At each doctor’s visit you will have your weight, blood pressure and urine checked.
  - Each of these visits to your health care provider gives you the opportunity to discuss the normal changes you go through during pregnancy and allows you to share your feelings and concerns as you prepare for your baby.
